What should you prepare for SONTE film installation? A step-by-step guide
We’ve already covered how to prepare for a quote, how to measure your glass, how long installation takes, and whether you can do it yourself. Today, it’s time for the next step, what to prepare before the installation of SONTE film.
Installing SONTE film doesn’t require a major renovation or complicated construction work. It’s a solution that works just as well during the finishing stages of a new building as it does in spaces that have been in use for years. The film can be applied directly to existing glazing, no need to replace the glass or modify the frames.
What matters most is that the installation is quick, clean, and tailored to the space. Our team always strives to make everything as neat and discreet as possible, no visible wires, no mess. We work to ensure the final result feels natural and doesn’t interfere with your interior design.
➡️ We install SONTE film in both new buildings and already occupied spaces.
➡️ There’s no need to break walls or replace windows.
➡️ We always aim to conceal wiring and power supplies as much as possible.
If you’re worried that installation might require heavy interference, don’t be. In most cases, just a few small technical details are needed and we’ll take care of the rest.
You don’t need to be an electrician, an outlet is enough
How to prepare the power supply for SONTE film depends mainly on whether the installation takes place in a finished interior or one that’s still under construction.
If the building is still in progress, that’s the perfect time to run a power cable in advance. We can advise you on where to route it and where to end it, so everything remains as clean and hidden as possible.
If the interior is already finished, all you need is access to power near the glazing. This could be a standard outlet, a prepared wire, an electrical box, or even a feed from the distribution board. We’re flexible and adapt to the situation, but the closer the power point is to the window, the easier it is for us to install everything neatly and discreetly.
The most important part? You don’t need to plan any complex wiring. A standard 230 V power source is all it takes, we’ll handle the rest.

Where should the cable go? Ideally to the corner of the glazing
To power SONTE film, electricity needs to be brought directly to the glass. The best place to connect the cable is at the corner of the glazing, this is where the electrodes begin, and where we hook up the power supply.
Don’t worry about getting it perfect. If you’re still in the planning stage, we’ll gladly advise you on how to run the cable. And if the interior is already finished, we’ll adapt to the existing setup and find a solution that looks clean and discreet.
What type of cable do you need? A simple 2x 0,35 mm² is enough
To power SONTE film, all you need is a small, two-core cable with a cross-section of 2x 0.35 mm². It’s thin, easy to find, and doesn’t require any special installation or major changes to the space.
If you’re working with an electrician, just share this specification with them, the installation will only take a few minutes. No special protection or unusual components are needed.
How much space does the power supply need?
Every SONTE film installation requires a power supply. It’s not large, measuring just 25 × 15 × 5 cm, so it can easily fit into many existing spots within your space.
We typically hide it in places like:
– a cabinet or storage compartment
– above a suspended ceiling or beneath a raised floor
– inside an electrical panel
The power supply doesn’t need to be visible. We always aim to hide it in a way that doesn’t interfere with the room’s appearance or draw attention. All you need is a small spot near the power source.
We specialize in making installations as clean and discreet as possible, often completely hidden. Whether we’re working in a modern apartment or an already furnished office, we always look for solutions that preserve the visual integrity of the interior.
Ready for installation? So are we!
As you can see, installing SONTE film doesn’t require any complicated prep work. Just a few simple things: access to power, a thin cable, a bit of space for the power supply and we’re good to go.
If anything’s unclear or you’re not sure where to start, just send us a message or give us a call. We’ll guide you, advise you, and adapt to your space.
